Volunteers

No other method provides outside audiences with an inside look on organizational operations and its impact to the community than volunteering.  CBWW is seeking individuals who share a heart for helping Atlanta’s black women and families through the following volunteer activities:

Immediate Need for a Data Entry Clerk - The volunteer will be trained on how to enter data in the Effort to Outcome (ETO) Database.  Upon the satisfactory completion of training the volunteer will be responsible for entering patient information (i.e. demographics, health history, and current health information).

Volunteer requirements

The volunteer must be 18 years of age or older.  The volunteer has to be detailed oriented and be able to work with little supervision.  The volunteer must have computer skills.  In addition, he/she cannot be afraid to ask questions (asking questions are a requirement for this opportunity.

Hours Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 5:00

Accounting Assistant - assists with setting up binders, making copies, filing and audit preparation. 

Grant Writer - assists with research, data collection and writing of grants.

Marketing Coordinator  - assists with marketing CBWW programs (i.e. press releases, PSA's) and the design efforts of promotional materials.  

Wellness Medical Assistant Extern  -  assists with front and back office clinic functions.

Graphic Design Volunteer  -  the graphic designer will work on a project by project basis designing brochures, a logo, newsletters, flyers etc.

Front Office Volunteer  -  Business Administration majors welcome to assist with various front office functions of CBWW.

Volunteer Coordinator Volunteer  -  coordinate the volunteer effort by recruiting, sending out letters, making phone calls, coordinating applications etc.

WESSP Business Plan Writer - Clients are required to prepare a (short version) business plan.  For many of them, it is a first. The volunteer candidate primary duty is to provide one-on-one assistance with developing and writing business and marketing plans. 

Candidate must be skilled in decision-making; possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter who work with minimum supervision.  Candidate must also be computer proficient with special emphasis on word excel. Business major a plus.

Wellness Partner - Medical Assistant 
Assist Mid-Level Provider (Clinician) in the day-to-day operations of the Wellness Program

Front and Back Office Duties including administrative and clinical duties as outlined by AAMA. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Taking medical histories

  • Explaining treatment procedures to patient

  • Preparing patients for examination and assisting the clinician during the exam

  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens and performing basic laboratory tests

  • Instructing patients about medication and special diets

  • Preparing and administering medications as directed by a clinician

  • Authorizing prescription refills as directed

  • Drawing blood and giving injections

  • Taking electrocardiograms

  • Using computer application and  assisting in database collection and entry

  • Ability to use Electronic Medical Records

  • Answering telephones and telephone triage

  • Medical Billing and Coding and completion of various insurance forms

  • Arranging for referrals and laboratory services

The ideal candidate should have completed the required coursework for a medical assistant degree or certificate, possess RMA or CMA certification, and have at least 1 year experience in Medical Billing and Coding.

Clinic hours of operations are Wednesday 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, Thursday and Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
