The Center for Black Women's Wellness envisions a community where teens are nurtured and provided opportunities to learn, develop life skills and grow to their full potential. The Center for Black Women's Wellness utilizes a multifaceted approach to reduce teenage pregnancies and HIV rates in the Atlanta community. Activities range from interactive workshops with youth and adults to clinical services. Our target area includes Neighborhood Planning Unit V and Neighborhood Planning Unit L of Atlanta.
Program Activities Include: Interactive Youth Workshops: Youth ages 12 to 17 years who reside in the target area receive information on HIV risks, healthy relationships, teen pregnancy prevention, abstinence, problem solving, and goal setting through an evidenced-based curriculum.
Teen Health Leadership Council: Youth ages 12 to 17 years work on projects to engage the community and promote positive community norms related to healthy decision making.
Askable Adult Workshops: Sessions designed to help promote regular, clear communication between adults and teens on topics such as puberty, dating, sex and decision-making.
Summer Youth Leadership Training Program (SYLTP): A summer experience for male and female youth ages 12 to 15 years. The program focuses on life skills and leadership development through informal discussions and interactive on-site and off-site activities to help youth avoid risky behaviors.
