Adolescent Health & Youth Development

The Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program—commonly known as "Plain Talk"—was formed to empower the community to tackle the problems surrounding teen pregnancy through intervention and education.

Program Activities Include:

Askable Adult Workshops: a series of eight evening sessions designed to help adults talk openly with youth about puberty, dating, sex, pregnancy, health, and decision-making.

Livingroom Parties: creative and fun ways in which trained community residents can educate each other about ways to help teens make healthy choices. Parties are usually held in the home of the host or a convenient location.

Summer Youth Leadership Training Program (SYLTP): an eight-week program for 35 youth in the community ages 10 through 15 to address the issues of teen pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV.

Teen Clinic: on-site teen clinical services provided to male and female youth by the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness.
