The Center for Black Women’s Wellness (CBWW) is a community-based nonprofit organization that is committed to improving the health and well-being of Black women. The organization provides several programs designed to educate, empower and inspire participants to make positive changes in their lives and the lives of their families. CBWW focuses on accessible healthcare, improving maternal and child health, and enhancing women’s economic wellbeing.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The CBWW Wellness Clinic provides low-cost women’s healthcare through paid mid-level providers Monday through Thursday on site and virtually on Fridays. No cost primary healthcare and chronic disease management is provided to low income, uninsured women and men one afternoon/evening per week through Safety Net volunteer healthcare professionals. Behavioral health services are available through contractors and volunteers to assure integrated care. Community based screening services, such as mobile mammography, are conducted routinely through staff and through area partnerships, and group health education is offered to patients as well as the community on a host of topics, such as diabetes prevention, breast health, and environmental health.
Reporting to the Clinic Manager, and under the oversight of our Medical Director, the Clinician is responsible for providing women’s health services for CBWW’s Wellness clinic patients. Services offered include physical examinations, preventive care, Well Woman care, family planning, clinical breast exams, complete blood work, STI testing (including HIV), blood pressure evaluation, and mammogram referral.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides preventive and women’s health care services to clients
- Assesses the health needs of patients
- Assists patients in following prescribed health care plan
- Assists patients in securing medical or other related services not provided by the CBWW
- Makes referrals to appropriate agencies and other CBWW services, based on patient needs
- Provides patient education on health-related topics
- Manages patient records and documents visits through charts
- Contacts patients needing follow-up promptly
- Review patient charts and labs every week.
- Provides health care workshops to program participants and community, as needed
- Supervises Medical Assistant(s)
EDUCATION and CERTIFICATION
- Family, adult health or women’s health nurse practitioner certification.
- Current advanced practice license for the State of Georgia.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two (2) years’ work experience in a clinic environment as a Clinician
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent patient bed-side manner
