The Center for Black Women’s Wellness (CBWW) is a community-based nonprofit organization that provides free and low-cost services to empower underserved women and their families, toward physical, mental and economic wellness. CBWW offers the following comprehensive services: women’s health, primary care and mental health services; health education and promotion programs; perinatal case management services; and financial literacy and self-employment training.
Position Overview: The Director of Programs and Operations has a key leadership role, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and driving the organization’s operational strategy to achieve ambitious goals.
This role serves as a strategic thought partner to the CEO, enhancing efficiency, providing counsel, and fostering a high performing inclusive, and collaborative culture. Overseeing critical programs and operational departments, the Director directly manages 5–7 key staff, including the Operations Manager, Clinic Manager, Program Managers, and Outreach Coordinator, ensuring seamless alignment across teams to optimize service delivery and advance the organization’s mission.
In addition to operational oversight, the Director plays a pivotal role in employee development by coaching and mentoring team members, and designing succession plans to sustain a strong leadership pipeline.
This role also leads the management of key projects, supports board and strategic planning activities, and oversees critical areas such as human resources and compliance. With a focus on scalability and long-term growth, the Director drives innovation and implements initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Planning
· Drive the development and implementation of long-term operational strategies that directly align with the organization’s mission and goals.
· Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership team to set organizational priorities, assess risks, and optimize resource allocation for impactful growth and scalability.
· Champion organizational alignment by integrating initiatives across departments to foster collaboration, innovation, and strategic execution.
Oversight and Team Leadership
· Provide direct supervision and mentorship to 5–7 key staff, including the Operations Manager, Clinic Manager, Program Managers (Maternal Child Health and Wellness), and Outreach Coordinator.
· Ensure cross-departmental alignment by guiding the creation of policies, procedural enhancements, and strategic initiatives. Delegate implementation to appropriate leaders while maintaining oversight.
· Oversee the execution of departmental responsibilities, including operational management, program delivery, and resource development, to ensure high-impact outcomes.
· Promote a culture of collaboration and accountability by developing professional growth opportunities, facilitating team communication, and driving collective impact.
· Conduct regular evaluations of departmental performance, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, quality standards, and organizational objectives.
Operational Efficiency and Resource Management
· Lead resource optimization initiatives to ensure the effective use of human, financial, and technological assets in achieving strategic goals.
· Evaluate and refine organizational workflows to enhance efficiency, scalability, and service delivery across all departments.
· Establish and monitor performance metrics to track operational effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Compliance and Risk Management
· Collaborate with the Medical Director and other leadership to ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory standards, including healthcare-specific requirements such as HIPAA compliance.
· Develop and oversee risk management strategies, ensuring the organization’s integrity and operational stability.
Technology and Systems Oversight
· Work closely with leadership, IT consultants, and vendors to resolve system challenges and ensure robust cybersecurity measures.
Stakeholder and Partnership Management
· Build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders, including vendors and community organizations, to advance the organization’s mission.
Budgeting and Financial Oversight
· Identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure operational spending aligns with strategic objectives and long-term sustainability.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
· 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, preferably within a non-profit or healthcare setting.
· Strong understanding of operational best practices, including process improvement and change management.
· Proven leadership abilities with a strong track record of managing and mentoring team members while developing bench strength for long-term success.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency in data analysis and using performance metrics for decision-making.
· Ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams effectively.
· Clinical Operations experience is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
· Competitive salary range of $100,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience.
